So I recently took a training that I paid a super pretty penny to be involved with – around $2,000 to be exact. I had looked up to this trainer for a while as a person who really knew their stuff so paying the money I paid for it I thought ‘well its top notch so its worth the expense’.

This person does exactly what I do in business – body and business coaching. So I was completely excited to sign up and get trained by this person!

The training itself was a letdown to say the least, there was not even any interaction with the person doing the training in real time as promoted. But – then it happened…

We finally had a live webinar and the trainer said to download videos other people had done and load them as your own to your Facebook to get better engagement.


My heart sank as I listened in and heard this person telling the people on the webinar to do something that could ultimately get them shut down on Facebook or worse yet – get them in legal hot water.

Please be careful who you look up to, who you get training from. If something does not feel right that you are being taught DIG DEEPER and follow your gut.

Know the rules of your platform and know things like copyright laws. For me, I realized quickly that this person was no longer someone who I could respect in terms of their business practices and teachings.

Blogs can be easily tracked by major search engines such as Yahoo and Google as long as you regularly upload high-quality content like articles, photos, and videos. Each blog article you submit is indexed by search engines.

To further increase your traffic, you can leave comments on other blogs and have your page linked to these blogs. This will contribute to the increase of your search engine ranking.

Another feature that you can use is the RSS Feed, a built-in syndication feature that will enable your readers to see and gain access to your content even without actually visiting your page. Through this feature, you keep your readers updated and it would be easy for them to see whether there’s something new in the blog, at which point they can easily click on the link to be directed to your page.

KNOW THE RULES to save yourself a lot of heartache on social media.

My first recommendation is to stop looking at Facebook with a “monkey see monkey do” approach. Just because everyone else appears to be doing it doesn’t necessarily make it worth doing nor does it make it allowed to be done.

Each platform – be it Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram etc all have a Terms of Service. You should really go and read EVERY ONE as thoroughly as possible to protect your acct.

Two of the biggest rules I see broken on a regular basis on Facebook are:

4.2 You will not create more than one personal account.

4.4 You will not use your personal timeline primarily for your own commercial gain, and will use a Facebook Page for such purposes.

Do NOT create multiple Facebook personal profiles. Best practice (not to mention FB policy) is that you use a business page for posting about what you have to offer.

My recommendation is 9 personal posts to 1 business on your Facebook profile (timeline). And 9 business posts to 1 semi-personal or off-topic on your fan page – this does not mean “sell sell sell” this means related to what it is that you DO. No one wants to just be sold to 24/7.

Things like naming yourself “Jane TruVision Jones” or rapid posting to hundreds of groups to sell your stuff or only posting business on your personal Facebook profile, sending unsolicited PMs to people, or adding everyone on your list to a group they did not ask to join…. any or all of those can get you in hot water.

Your real name is not TruVision or whatever company you represent, so do not post that as your name on your personal Facebook profile as your name.

I highly recommend the first thing you do READ the Terms of Service on Facebook… because if they flag you saying you “did not know” will not work… once your blocked your blocked.  I see a LOT of people regularly upset they are blocked from sending private messages or posting in groups – or worse yet their pages get shut down. This is there you NEED to be educated on how to properly use each social media outlet and what is or is not allowed to be done.

Spending a few minuted learning your social media rules can save you a lot of heartache down the line.

So it is Monday again.  When most people think of Monday they think its the start of something new.  For some a new work, for some maybe Monday is the date they start to start on a new goal.

For me, this Monday in particular, In find myself in deep thought when it comes to my business.

I find myself looking at a potential new path (and NO I am not leaving my current Direct Sales company before anyone gets that rumor going).

This is more of an extension of my current business – so I guess not really a new path but one that I realized has been unfolding for me over some time now. That small voice in me that said I can take my business to this next level also comes with another voice that say “what if it fails” or “what if its not successful”.

This is where I still struggle.  The voice of failure inside that makes me afraid to take risks. The one that tells me maybe I won’t be good enough.

I have invested quite a bit of money over the last year in doing business trainings.  Trainings I bought from some very well known “experts” in the field of network marketing and/or social media. But now matter how many of them I bought and watched and took notes on I realized two things:

  1. They would never truly tell you the exact process HOW to do what they were saying to do.  In the end you just get left with more questions that they are too busy to actually answer. They got too big and now the only thing they do have time to do it pitch you their products – some costing $1000 to $2,000 or more to get.  They tell you ask their support staff but in the end you never get the training you thought you were paying for and no help is to be found.
  2. You take their training videos or buy their books only to go back and look at what they are doing online and quickly realize they are NOT doing what they are preaching. For example one of them says “post 10 times per day on Facebook once per hour every day” yet you look at her Facebook and that is NOT what she is doing. Or they say “never post about your personal life” and you look only too see them posting photos of their dog and kids every day. Hmmmm…..

So today I realize that this little nagging voice inside of me that says I can do better than that and charge less so I can help more people needs to become a reality.

You see the other things I have experienced in my time in Network Marketing is this: there are a lot of potentially amazing network marketers out there who just simply need training but they cannot go to the ‘experts’ because they are in fact new to the business and do not have $2,000 to drop on a training (let alone if they DO drop that cash then realize the training never actually taught then the step by step process they may need, especially if technology is new to them).

This is where my voice say – teach them, step by step, leave nothing out – show them how to do it themselves vs paying for outsourcing or buying all sorts of expensive monthly billed products they really do not NEED to have.  Show them how to get the same results in their little to no budget so they can get to the point where they now DO have the money they need in the bank to get bigger.

As I sit here today I know I must overcome that voice of “what if you fail” because there are so many out there who need what I want to offer them.

I need to get past my own self doubts and get this out there.

As a Plexus Ambassador you WILL encounter customers who are not happy with your products.

There are customers that are happy from day one and others that aren’t happy until day 30, 60 or 90. In order to encourage and guide your customer to success, we must ask them a series of questions that gives us a better understanding of their lifestyle, activity level, diet and any underlying issues that may be hindering their success while on one of the programs you are helping them with.

Happy customers make great Ambassadors, so you want to guide them every step of the way! Follow up is absolutely necessary or you will see more failures than successes. I encourage all of you to provide your customers with directions on how to take the products correctly and to check in with them after week 1.  You can find their contact information in your back office.

  1. How much weight do you want to lose? Remember if its 10 pounds or less….that is the hardest weight to lose and it’s going to take some time and a cleaner diet!
  2. Water intake? Are you drinking half your body weight in ounces of water per day?
  3. What is your daily caloric intake? 1200-1500 calories per day is ideal. If they aren’t eating enough it could prevent them from losing weight.  Also dive into what makes up that 1200-150 calories a day.  There are healthy calories and not so healthy ones.  The choices within those calories can make a big impact on a person’s body.
  4. How’s your diet? What sort of meal plan do you follow? Walk me through a day and tel me everything you eat and drink and how much. (note: almost every time someone is struggling the answer can be found within their diet!)
  5. Do you exercise at all? Remember that muscle and fat weigh the same but look VERY different – to the scale a pound in a pound – you could potentially be losing more inches than pounds. Encourage them to take pictures and measure!
  6. Are you receiving any other benefits other than weight loss? How’s your energy level? Sleep? Make sure you help them realize their “non-scale” victories.
  7. Are you using your Plexus Products consistently?  If they are not taking the products consistently every day that may be the issue.
  8. Are they taking any other medications? If so have they checked with their doctor?
  9. Do you have normal bowel movements?  Please keep in mind “normal” varies per person.  I always say “You don’t have to answer this question, but just think about it” since it may be an uncomfortable subject for some people. I have seen a pattern with people who have a harder time losing weight if they have irregular bowel movements whether it be too loose and/or constipation.  Getting “regular” is sometimes essential to weight loss. Constipation may happen because you are cleaning your digestive tract, drink more fluids!
  10. Do they have any medical issues? Things such as hypothyroid among others can deter weight loss making the progress seem slower. Again remind the customer of their non-scale victories along their journey.

Finally, keep in mind that every person’s physiology is different.  You will ALWAYS have a few that claim they have no results. Everyone’s is unique and their physiology is different.  9 out of 10 will get great results. If they do not thank them for trying it. It will happen.

When someone stalls or hits a plateau, explain to them that as they gained weight they also did that in a plateau style.  They gained some, stopped for a bit, gain some, stopped for a bit, etc.  Weight loss is the same way.  You will see it happen in phases/ plateaus.  Encourage people to continue on while explaining this because plateaus can last a few days for months. But they are just that a stepping stone and do not last forever with proper choices and continued product use.
